I recently received a gift of a flat screen TV for my bedroom and my son-in-law installed it for me. It didn't look too bad with just the TV on the wall but after the satellite was put in and a DVR and a DVD player connected it was a mess. Wires were hanging everywhere. I didn't have a lot of money to spend on some fancy system. I found this shelf online and again, my son-in-law installed it for me. It looks beautiful. I was fortunate enough to have an electrical outlet up higher on my wall so the shelf is able to sit just below the TV and hides everything. It did take a little time to install (2 hours?) but the directions were clear and straightforward.
The section at the back of the shelf that hides your cables is about 18 inches long. Because I had an outlet so close, I was able to effectively conceal all my cords. However, if your outlet is further away, you will still have cables showing unless you put a piece of furniture in front of them. I think I saw somewhere online where you could buy additional sections to conceal cables but of course, that adds to the cost. This shelf was a bargain and I would highly recommend it.

These shelves are sturdy, and very attractive. best for placement under or above an lcd/flat screen/plasma as thats the way the wires will best be hidden.
